Good morning and here is my experience

1.  Went back to work in 2 weeks.  Was tired, but otherwise ok.  Also had a desk job.

2.  I had laproscopic and was sent home with 2 drains.  Every doctor is different.  Check with your surgeon on his drain policy.

3.  I didn't do any formal type of exercise for a while.  But I was doing some light walking about 3 weeks out and I was back to bowling after 6 weeks.

Good luck.  Will keep you in my thoughts.

2.  Lap - no drain

3.  Started walking short distances immediately.

Hi, congratulations on your up coming surgery. I took 5 weeks off from work, and really could of used another week, but I work 12 hour shifts and do a lot of lifting, and am on my feet most of those 12 hours. I didn't have any drains, thank goodness. My surgeon likes his patients to walk everyday, just a light walk for about 20-30 minutes as you tolerate. So I was doing that from the get go. I started at the gym 2 weeks post op, partly because it was raining everyday and kind of hard to get outside and walk. I didn't start doing heavy workouts till I was 6 weeks. Good luck!!! I am sure you will do well.

Hugs Eileen

1st off..NO question is stupid or dumb or too many!  You need all the answers you need to be comfortable with your decision..ask anytime and all questions here ;-)

I had lap RNY...no drains at all, in the hospital or going home.
took 3 weeks off but could have returned after 2; also have sit-down job ^_^
I was walking 4 hours after surgery...each day increased my length of time walking..but week 2 was back to normal 2 mile walk. Never did or do 'heavy' exercise or gym-type workout. For me, walking is the extent of my exercise routine (call me lazy, I'll claim it LOL).

Good luck on your revision...success either way is yours!

Hi there!

As Nancy said, no question is stupid.

1.  I was off for 2 1/2 weeks.  I have a desk job so it was no issue.

2.  I had a drain in the hospital but it was taken out the morning I left.

3.  I walked the day after surgery and would circle the halls many times.  I continued to walk when I got home, first to the end of the block and then around the block.

Congrats on your revision and we're very happy you decided to join us on your revision journey.
